Okomu commissions 7 projects in neighbouring communities
In fulfillment of its commitment to attracting development to its neighbouring communities, Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc. has commissioned 7 projects in five (5) of its over twenty (20) neigbouring communities.
The projects which cut across communities in Uhunmwonde, Ovia South West and Ovia North East local government areas of Edo State is part of Okomu’s annual corporate social responsibilities (CSR) to its neigbhouring communities.
The projects commissioned include a Semi-Industrial Borehole at Irhue Community, and an ultra modern Town-Hall at Umokpe Communityin Uhunmwonde Local Government Area.
Others are a Semi-Industrial Borehole and a block of Market Stalls at Agbanikaka Community, in Ovia North East Local Government Area, an ultra modern town-hall and an domestic Borehole at Marioghioba (AT&P) community as well as a modern community town hall at Udo community Ovia South West Local Government Area.
Speaking during the commissioning exercise, the Communication Officer, Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc., Mr Fidelis Olise who represented the Managing Director, Dr Graham Hefer, said the projects are continuation of the Company’s CSR signs her neigbhouring communities.
He opined that despite the currently economic challenges which has nosedived the revenue of most businesses across the world, Okomu did not take that as an excuse but rather it kept to its promise of providing social amenities for its neighbouring communities.
The Okomu Communication Officer however appealed to the community in which the projects are situated to ensure that they take good care of the projects as this will encourage the company to do more just as he urged them to continue to create an enabling environment for the company to operate.
In his response, the Iyase of Udo, His Royal Highness Patrick Igbinidu, appreciated the board, management and staff of Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc. for the annual projects being executed in the various neighbouring communities, stressing that this has greatly improved the relationship between the communities and the company.
On his part the acting Odionwere of Irhue community, Pa Ogiemwonyi Aiwekhoe who spoke through his son, Lucky Ogiemwinyi appreciated the company for its contribution in attracting development to the community adding that the coming of Okomu to their communities has greatly uplifted the standard of living of residence in the area.
It could be recalled that Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc., had in December 2019 commissioned 9 projects in its neighboring communities.
