Our partners

Our partnerships are based on shared values indispensable for project success: transparency and mutual respect.

Convinced of the effectiveness of building win-win partnerships, with development organizations or universities that share our mission, we continuously strive to develop synergies between complementary competences. This enables us to carry out adapted sustainability projects with a long-term regional impact.

INSTITUTIONS & UNIVERSITIES

DEG

Co-financed long-term projects of the Socfin Group focusing on health and education. These projects aimed at intensifying HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, for employees and their families, as well as for the surrounding communities, in highly affected countries where the Group operates (DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Nigeria and Liberia).

Profile: The DEG encourages
private sector initiatives in future markets and develops solutions for steady growth in collaboration with its clients and partners.

Ghent University

Cooperates with the Socfin Group on tissue culture and micropropagation of the rubber tree. Clonal trees multiplied by microcutting in the lab are seen as an alternative to the traditional plant material propagated by budgrafting on unselected rootstock seedlings. Field trials in Ivory Coast and Indonesia will soon enable Socfin to validate the concept of superiority in terms of yield and wind resistance. In Indonesia, Socfin has established its own tissue culture lab.

Profil: The Ghent Universities is among the highest ranking regarding agricultural R&D. A biotech hub including spin offs, start-ups and research institutes has turned Ghent into a reputed biotechnology knowledge centre. Socfin has started its partnership with UGhent in 2008.

PalmElit

Collaborates with the Socfin Group to obtain the most productive and disease-resistant palms, in order to optimize the planted areas and to reduce the use of sanitary control methods, two results that will have a significant impact on the preservation of the environment. This research is supervised by our two laboratories: Camseeds in Cameroon and Socfindo in Indonesia.

Profile: PalmElit conducts genetic improvement and marketing programs for oil palm seeds in order to provide family farms and agro-industries with a steady income.
